Cathay Pacific x Gilt
Brief
When famous Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific wanted to build awareness around its industry-leading First Class product, they reached out to Gilt.com to create a promotion. I had the job of explaining the brand’s story to Gilt’s luxury- and travel-obsessed audience.
Fly to Hong Kong in incomparable luxury, in a First Class cabin dreamed up by one of the world’s leading international airlines.
At any of Cathay Pacific Airways’ five U.S. gateways, you’ll board a state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER—and head straight to the front of the plane, to the luxurious First Class cabin, appointed with burgundy carpet and even artworks (by Maria Lobo and Linda Leviton).
Champagne flows freely at the front of the aircraft—and fine cuisine is prepared fresh for each passenger during the flight. The Asian-inspired and international cuisine options are numerous on every flight, thanks to galleys equipped with rice cookers, toasters and steam ovens.
Each seat transforms into a fully-flat bed with extra-thick mattress and high-quality bedding (sheets, blankets and duvets)—ensuring you’ll be able to get a deep sleep during your long transpacific flight. You’ll even be able to change into a PYE 100-percent-cotton sleep suit for your rest.
Hundreds of in-flight entertainment options await on your large personal television. Connect (and charge up) your laptop or devices with the USB jack. Listen to music (or just block out everything else) with Bose QuietComfort headphones; there’s a pair at each Suite. Aesop amenity kits will keep you refreshed during the journey and before landing.
With all this, it’s no surprise that Cathay Pacific won the coveted Skytrax award for “Best Transpacific Airline” in 2015.
In continuous operation since 1946, Hong Kong–based Cathay Pacific has earned its reputation as one of world’s safest, most luxurious and most award-winning international airlines. Serving over 180 destinations on six continents, the airline is dedicated to unparalleled service.
About Cathay Pacific Airways
Founded in 1946, Cathay Pacific Airways began as a modest regional airline, connecting Hong Kong to Manila, Singapore and other cities in East Asia. Seven decades later—after exponential growth and an ever-changing world economy—the airline flies to over 180 destinations around the world from its award-winning hub at Hong Kong Airport. With one of the world’s youngest fleets—numbering 148 wide-bodied Airbus and Boeing jets—Cathay Pacific leads the industry in passenger comfort, both on the ground and in flight, in standards of service, and in safety. It’s no wonder that the airline is showered with awards every year, including the coveted Skytrax “Best Transpacific Airline” award in June 2015.
On intercontinental flights, passengers are pampered by Cathay Pacific flight attendants wearing crisp uniforms in signature red. In the Economy Class cabin, state-of-the-art seats make sure each flight is as comfortable as possible. In Business Class, seats convert to fully flat beds for those who want to rest; those who wish to stay up can enjoy a range of fine wines and freshly prepared cuisine. The jewel of every Cathay Pacific aircraft, the First Class cabin feels more like a luxury hotel, with plush carpeting, warm-toned leather, wood finishing and a full menu of made-to-order Asian and international dishes. Whether your flight is one hour or 18 hours long, you might not want to disembark from a Cathay Pacific aircraft.
